Volunteer at Crossbridge Hospice
At Crossbridge Hospice, volunteers play a vital role in bringing comfort, connection, and calm to patients and families. Whether through a kind conversation, a shared story, or a quiet moment of presence, your care makes a lasting difference for those we serve.

Giving your time can change a life.
Home is where comfort lives—and for our patients, that comfort often begins with a volunteer’s presence. Crossbridge Hospice volunteers bring warmth, companionship, and understanding to one of life’s most meaningful chapters.
Whether through conversation, music, or simply offering a helping hand, volunteers ease emotional and physical burdens while fostering dignity and peace. From pet and music therapy to veteran-to-veteran visits, every act of service brings comfort when it matters most.

Volunteer Testimonials
“I have been a hospice volunteer for 3.5 years, spending time with my patients on a weekly basis. These visits are often the highlight of my week, as I form close relationships not only with my patients but also with their families. I find deep fulfillment in connecting with patients as they navigate one of the most confusing and frightening phases of life. Being a consistent presence, someone they can talk to, listen to, and rely on has been profoundly meaningful to me.
Visiting patients in their homes has shown me, firsthand, how socioeconomic factors shape access to care and influence the course of health at the end of life. As a pre-medical student, this experience has taught me invaluable lessons about patient-centered care, the power of meaningful relationships, and how to engage in difficult, deeply human conversations. It has also revealed how systems beyond hospital walls play a critical role in supporting patients and families, even in death.
Hospice volunteering has become a cornerstone of my ongoing-education and path toward medicine, and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough.”

“Since joining the Crossbridge Hospice team several years ago my journey has been full of joyful moments. The internal reward of being able to give back through community involvement is unprecedented. I enjoy the face-to-face visits with the patients and just seeing them light up from a visit warms my heart. As a retired military veteran, it’s my honor to assist with Veteran pinning’s to show respect to our patients for a job well done. I also take pride in pitching in to help in the office in any way I can to help facilitate a smooth workflow. I must say that I love the office camaraderie and watching how everyone genuinely has each other’s backs is admirable”

“Being an international dentist, I was searching for volunteering opportunities in the same field. However, I had no work and was completely clueless about other volunteering options. Through an online search, I discovered Harmony Hospice Care (now Crossbridge Hospice) and was intrigued by their website. Since then, I decided to work with this organization, which provides comfort and support to patients and their families who truly need it. This was my first volunteer experience outside of dentistry. It has been about a year since I started volunteering under the mentorship of Ms. Deborah (Office Manager, Williamsburg location). She has guided me from how to communicate with families to resolving all supply-related queries by acting as a bridge. In fact, she wrote me a letter of recommendation for my dental school application. Apart from her mentorship, she is a wonderful person who has always been calm and patient, helping me whenever I needed it. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization and thankful to everyone who has helped me, especially Ms. Deborah. Ms. Deborah has consistently reached out to me and checked on me during my family’s health issues. I truly appreciate her empathy.”
